Welcome to my Tin Shop

My name is David Bowser and I began tinsmithing in November 2003. My main goal is to keep the art of tinsmithing alive through education of our young people about the tinsmith trade and by demonstrating and explaining the craft. Tinsmithing is an opportunity for me to work with my hands creating unique items and/or reproduction items out of tin sheets. This gives me a sense of accomplishment, and a feeling of pride. I started out in November 2003 during Christmas Walk in Metamora Indiana. My first pieces were simple Christmas Decorations cut out and hand punched. I learned the basic skills by watching Metamora's local coppersmith. Thanks Ron! In February 2004 I attended a tinsmith class at Conner Prairie, Indiana. Since then I have been learning as I go by trial and error. I strive to produce the highest quality work possible. I hand craft each piece using the traditional methods. Make a pattern, cut pieces, bend, roll, hammer, and then solder together (while trying not to cut my hands or hit my fingers with a hammer). The items in my catalog are just a sample of what I do. Please browse the STORE and see for yourself. Thanks.
